Turn Everyday Kitchen Items Into Baby Toys

If you’ve spent any time with a baby, you already know they love to play with things that weren’t designed to be baby toys.

Who needs store-bought baby toys when you have a whole world of household items waiting to be explored? Babies have a knack for finding joy in unexpected objects, so why not embrace their curiosity and provide them with unique play experiences? Just remember, always supervise your baby during playtime!

Try this:

Raid your kitchen for your baby’s next favorite “toy”

The Metal Mixing Bowl

A shiny metal mixing bowl is irresistible. I like to flip it over and stack small toys on top. Babies love to look at the reflection, and it encourages them to lift their heads during tummy time.

Stainless Steel Condiment Cups

Lightweight stainless steel condiment cups are easy for your baby to hold onto, and make a really intriguing "clinking" sound when tapped together.

A Whisk

Babies love to explore the whisk end with their tongue which promotes tongue mobility that is helpful for feeding and talking. Put a silk scarf inside and they can pull it out!

Look for a whisk with a soft handle and no loose parts, like this one by OXO.

The Salad Spinner

My salad spinner has seen the last of it's days on lettuce duty. It's now exclusively a baby toy. I put a small flash light inside for a fun light show!

Cupcake Tin

Fill a cupcake tin with balls, silicone cupcake liners, and the small metal cups. You've just made a very entertaining tummy time activity.

Silicone Cupcake Liners

Cupcake liners are easy to hold and fun to chew. What else is a baby looking for?

Who would have thought that your kitchen holds a treasure trove of baby toys? Embrace the joy of unconventional play by repurposing everyday items. From metal mixing bowls to silicone cupcake liners, these kitchen treasures offer endless fun and sensory exploration for your little one. So, gather your supplies and embark on a delightful journey of imaginative play with your baby!

Remember, safety is paramount, so supervise your baby closely during playtime with these items. Enjoy the simple pleasures and watch as your baby discovers the magic in the ordinary.
