Gross Motor Skills To Expect

Standing and pre-walking skills.

Expected Age Range: 10-13 months, or so.

The stage between cruising and walking is spent constantly pushing things around while walking, and working on independent standing balance. This is what you can expect to see:

 
 

  • Your baby is able to walk forward with a push toy with supervision.

  • They are starting to experiment with standing up from the floor through a “down dog” or squat position. 

  • They are able to stand up from the floor without pulling up on something. 

  • Your baby is able to maintain static independent standing with controlled lowering back to the floor.
